Ex-UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia posts gruesome picture of infection in same arm broken by Fra

Tim Sylvia suffered one of the nastiest injuries in UFC history when Frank Mir snapped his arm in 2004 - and he is still having problems with it.

Sylvia suffered the horror injury at UFC 48 where Mir got him in an armbar just 50 seconds into the heavyweight title fight.

He refused to tap out by referee Herb Dean called a stop to the bout when he could clearly see the arm was broken.

The 44-year-old took to social media this week to show up to date pictures of the injury and how the screws put in 16 years ago are now leaking out and have become infected.

According to Sylvia, the UFC will not pay for the cost of repairing the damage.

He wrote on Instagram: “So my arm been giving me problems for over a year now. The screws are backing out from my arm break when i fought @thefrankmir my dr.

"Contacted the @ufc cause it was paid for by them the first time. Sort of under workman’s comp.

"The ufc says it’s not there problem and will not cover it. I don’t have insurance and it’s going to cost well over 10,000 dollars to get fixed. Any thoughts on what i should do?”

A GoFundMe page has also been set up by his fiancé to try and raise money to help cover the cost of the operation to repair the damage.
