A sure-fire collaboration right here, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike & Nicky Romero, you literally can’t do better than that in the DJ world. This new single also comes with an extra track, which is an extended version of the song which adds an extra 40 seconds to the song. It follows up Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s own remix of their collaboration with Paris Hilton, titled “Best Friend’s Ass” which is one of six single releases which will be a part of their Tomorrowland 2019 EP, we expect another six more releases in the coming weeks; discounting remixes, it follows up their collaboration with David Guetta & Daddy Yankee, titled “Instagram” which also featured Afro Bros & Natti Natasha; it also follows up Nicky Romero’s collaboration with StadiumX, titled “Love You Forever” which featured Sam Martin.
The Belgian DJ brothers, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, whose real names are Dimitri Thivaios and Michael Thivaios, have been unstoppable in recent years, topping DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs in 2015 and placing second in 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018, as well as winning several awards. They’ve claimed various chart hits around the world and are set to claim more as the future years go by. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are certainly on top of their game, and we can’t get enough of their music. We also managed to exclusively interview them about their 2018 single “When I Grow Up” and working with Wiz Khalifa on that track. Most recently they’ve grabbed collaborations with the likes of David Guetta, Daddy Yankee, Paris Hilton, Era Istrefi, and Armin van Buuren.
As for Nicky Romero, real name Nick Rotteveel, he’s a Dutch DJ who is world-renowned. He’s mostly known for his international collaborative hit with Avicii, titled “I Could Be The One” as well as the previous single release with NERVO titled “Like Home”. He has his own successful record label, known as Protocol Records, which has signed a number of big and rising electronic artists including Calvin Harris, CID, Amba Shepherd, Don Diablo, Vicetone, R3hab, Hardwell, and Nile Rodgers, amongst many more.
According to Spotify, this new release has been written by Arjen Thonen, Dimitri Thivaios, John Dirne, Michael Thivaios, Mischa Lugthart, Nick Rotteveel, and Timmo Anton Jan Hendriks, whilst it was produced by the artists themselves. They have previously released a single and music video together, last year, titled “Here We Go (Hey Boy, Hey Girl)”.
The song introduces us to a repeated line of the title remixed in a club-heavy track, it’s clear from the get-go that these DJs are here to bring it. Soon enough it turns into a full-on house track with a few techno beats thrown in, taking us right to the dancefloor at Tomorrowland whilst CO2 cannon blasts out cool air. Throughout the song, they mess around with the vocal which just uses the song’s title as its lyrics, giving us different versions and spins. As we near the halfway point, though, we start to actually hear people clapping, turning that sound into part of the beat of the track. Although it reminds us slightly of football chants, the clapping is a unique twist on the times that artists encourage an audience to clap to the beat of the song – now club-goers can get involved. We can so imagine everybody on a dancefloor clapping in line with the beat of the track.
“Everybody Clap” is available to download and stream right now, via Protocol Records. The extended version of the track can be heard above.
